  • Displacement with Production/RT looking different/offset

    Hi,

Scene is uploaded to CG FTP (file name "Asphalt_003_Debug.zip")

    Simple scene setup:
One plane with VRayDisplacementMod (3D mode). Displacement-Map is a composite map with two textures and a few procedurals, nothing too complex.
One plane at the exact same position with an XForm modifier to offset it a little below the first plane. Not displaced at all.

I get somehow different results in RT (CPU and GPU) (where it looks fine and I developed it) than in production mode. It appears that the displacement map gets handled differently - it appears to be offset.

    1) RT (How it should look like, fine here):

    2) Production (seems offset, can see it good at the shadow below the box and if you A/B):

    Steps to reproduce:

    1) Open the scene
    2) Render with RT/ActiveShade and save the image
    3) Switch to production mode and render and save the image
    4) A/B the images

According to Support the problem originates from the "blur" parameter in the bitmap node. Apparently it doesn't operate correctly in VRay RT (CPU and GPU). They are working on it.
So if one resets the blur to 1, the default, they will render the same.
