  • Vray HDRI chokes LC? Slows down render.

So in an attempt to test if Vray HDRI is better/faster than the native bitmap of 3dsmax. I discovered it's actually slower. That is, it looks like it chokes the LC. I've recorded my screen. In both videos I'm performing the same actions. The first half of the video is rendering the native bitmap, I then convert to VrayHDRI and re-render. It looks like the LC has problems with the Vray HDRIs. The scene has 24 8K arroway bitmaps a Vrayplane, Vray light Physical camera. Nothing more.

It says the videos are private.

In any case, VRayHDRI builds a lot of its data structures for the first time while rendering, and this may take a while. Make sure that the "Clear cache on render end" option in the "Texture Options" section of the V-Ray settings is disabled and subsequent renders should be a lot faster.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

I changed the privacy settings of the videos. I'll try your suggestions in the mean time.

Well indeed, it seems that the second time I try to render after the first 'slow' render. It doesn't choke anymore and it renders just as fast as the native bitmap. Apologies.
