  • Crash with render to texture.

    Hi,
    here is something strange.
    Bake.zip

Bake_Crash object crashes max if I try to render to texture.

I exported it as OBJ and reimported and it bakes just nicely. So its something related to the geometry, what's going on there?
The OBJ exporter helped me sometimes to fix things before, but it would be nice to know what causes this.

This might be a 3DSmax issue, it crashes with Scanline and MentalRay also.
Would you please try to bake that object with Scanline and MentalRay and let us know if it crashes again?

The crashing geometry is actually not Renderable:

If Renderable option is active it bakes without any crashes.
Did you set that option on purpose or by accident?

        Of course!

I did that on purpose, the object is a group of source objects for a Raylclone Skyscraper.
I attached them together for baking.

Didn't wanted to get them rendered while I render the perspective or camera view.

        Such a stupid misstake.

        But I wouldn't expect a crash.
A black image would have brought me to the object settings.

What ever its a Max problem.
Or can you prevent objects from beeing not renderable on Render to Texture?
Dont think there is a reason for baking a not renderable object, even if it would work.

        Thanks for clearing that up.
