  • 3dsmax2016 Vray 3.40.02 unhandled exception

    I don't know what's happening, but I get this error even on a new empty scene.

    An exception occurred while rendering with 3ds Max.

    This render will abort. If you render again without resolving the exception, you may experience instability.

    Unknown Exception

    ---

    error: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Rendering frame Last marker is at ./src/globillummap.cpp, line 2179:GlobIlluMap::buildLightMap() {5}

    Vray 3.40.02 on 3ds max 2014 is working great. This is happening only with 2016 version. (Windows 7)

      Can you post that empty scene here? There might be something else in it.

        Also, does this happen with the nightly/stable builds? (If you don't have access to those, but would like to try them out, you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com )

          Unfortunatly I have to work on a project right now and I need to use max 2016. I intalled the previous version of Vray (3.30.05) and it's working without problem.
          As soon as I finish to work I'll try to install the nightly build.

            Do you have DR turned on? I had a situation where one of my farm machines was not running the same build of vray, and this would cause my local machine to crash

              same error here with the 3.40.02 build on max2016 even with an empty scene. if i install 3.40.03 max crashes straight away without giving the error message.
              on win10

                It's most likely something wrong with the files, either of 3dsMax itself or V-Ray.
                The easiest way to resolve the issue would be to unisntall both, then wipe the leftover files and directories and perform a clean installation.
                If that's not an option we'll have to think for another solution but let us know first if clean installation is possible.
