  • Vray 3.40.02 VrayColor2Bump Problem

    I noticed a strange issue with the VrayColor2Bump map after switching to Vray 3.40.02 from Vray 3.30.03.

    Here is an image:

    It is quite a simple Material with a tiled Gradientramp in the Bump slot, i also attach the file.

    Any Idea?

    Hi! i don't know if there is a bug in there but from what i can see you don't need the "color2 bump" map there becasue your map is already with black and white values. You usually use that map when you wnat to "extract" bump information out of a color map since you don't have a proper bump map.

    So in the meantime it may be a solution to not to use the "color2bump" map.

    Cheers!

      Well unfortunatelly the matrial is used in multiple scenes and i don't have the time change them all.

        The scene renders fine on our side:

        This is with 3ds Max 2016 + SP3 and V-Ray 3.40.02
        Which 3ds Max version are you using on your end? Any service packs installed on top of it?

            We did some more testing and managed to reproduce the same behavior on our side.
            Adding the following environment variable to your system should produce the same result as the one you got with V-Ray 3.30.03:

            VRAY_OLD_BUMP_REFL = 1
