  • VrayDisplacementMod "Texmap min" value not working for me

I'm not sure why but Texmap min value is not working for me. I've got a 32 bit black and white tif texture and it renders the same with Texmap min -1 and 0. How can I make the object displace in the negative direction too? Now it displaces just one way - outwards. In the standard displacement modifier in max there's a Luminance Center option where you can enter 0.5 and this will make the 128 grey values = no displace and everything darker goes inwards and everything lighter outwards.

    Thanks!

hmm...I wonder if it is a matter of format. Try saving it as a 32 bit EXR and put the map into the V-RayHDRI bitmap loader with "color space" set to none.

I avoid tif for a few reasons... Interger vs float, premultiply alpha and file size.

Thanks but still doesn't work with exr. I just want to make 50% grey to be no displace and everything above to go outwards and below inwards.

V-Ray displaces positive values outwards and negative ones inwards, so you have to either change the texture values by shifting 50% gray values to be 0 or find appropriate Shift value that will give the result you are looking for.
