  • Character displacement with "Hair and Fur"

    Hi,

    i want to animate a 3d wolf for a no budget movie.

    I am using 3ds maxs "Hair and fur" for the fur of a wolf. But i am also using vray displacement on the character with the fur.

    Problem: The hair is not displaced with the model. It leaves its position on the lowpoly. If i try to use higher polymeshes Hair and fur is getting
    slow and unusable. Click image for larger version

    I don´t have money to buy a good hairplugin, so i have to use "Hair and Fur".
    I played around with the displacementslot in the Hair and fur modifier, but its not working good.

    Can anybody help?

    Does the hair&fur modifier have some option for a displacement map? I thought I saw something like this before...

      Hi,
      yes, i think it´s just displacing the low Polymesh and it doesn´t seam to work right with 32bit displacmentmaps.

        Yeah, standard displacement modifier in Max also doesn´t like 32 bit files and hair&fur is probably the same. Just work around it and also create 16 bit displacementfiles for the hair displacement...
