good morning to all of you. I used a standard jpeg, already used in other works without problems.
My client has realized the 3d with Sketchup, and he has exported the file in .3ds format.
I converted to POLY, and I have assigned the "normal" modifier, this has solved some of mapping problems, but vray started to give me the error "Invalid Bump Normal"
      I used 3dsmax vray + 2016 + 3:40:02 forest pack
Do you believe that the problem is caused by export of Sketchup?

Most likely yes. Just in case can you send me the scene at peter.matanov@chaosgroup.com so I can check it out ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

          Maybe same problem here.
Message is "Texture map (normal bump) is incompatible with Vray and may cause problems"

          No Sketchup.
          Max 2015, Vray 3.40.02, WIndows 10

I got your scene but I didn't get any warnings/errors while rendering for invalid bump normals, anyway I will keep testing until something comes up. BTW using VRayNormalMap instead of NormaMap is highly recommended.

                Thanks for your help.
The normal map was on a forest pack (Willow) object but it was not this that slowed the render even if caused the "warnings"

I have resolved by deleting all objects Guruwave (gwIvy)

If there were objects IvyGroove the L.C.s It did not end the calculation.
I use the VrayMtlWrapper for the gwIvy Material
(you can see the picture below)

Why are you using VrayMtlWrapper ? I don't see any of its options activated.

In regards to the OP I just got a new evermotion pack of models and every one I import is generating the same error as in the screen shot in the first post. Normally I wouldn't sweat it but Im looking at hundreds of objects that are causing this and not looking forward to manually converting every one to VRayNormalMap. is there a script by chance that can take care of this?
                    Cheers,

Please send me one of those objects at peter.matanov@chaosgroup.com. What version of V-Ray are you using ?

Ok Ill pack one up for you shortly, using 3dsmax 2016 SP3, V-Ray 3.40.02 on Win10

**EDIT** Peter, you should get it shortly, had to use WeSendIt as it was a little too big to email.

No invalid bump warnings on my machine.. Only the warnings for using 3ds max Normal Maps which can be fixed by using the V-Ray scene converter (right click in the viewport).

I used VrayMtlWrapper because I thought it was how to convert the standar material in V-Ray material.
the automatic converter for the standard material in vray material do not really like
