  • Cube6x1 bleed problems

Just wanted to post this here because it's a big problem. There's significant bleed happening between squares when creating cube images. It's talked about in this thread but not sure if there's been a fix. I'm on 2017 / 3.40.02

Turn off the AA filter and make sure your horizontal resolution is exactly divisible by 6.

Vlado, thanks running that test now. However, has this been identified as a bug to be fixed?

Yes, for the nightly builds we automatically turn off the filtering.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Gotta check in here again, Vlado: Will we be able to use AA with cubemaps at some point? Tnx!

It's on the "to do" list, but we are not there yet.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

Your application might allow for use of spherical maps instead which are more resilient to this sort of thing, and also more likely to work with lens effects too.

Unfortunately I really need the clarity and less distortion that the cubemaps provide!

Hey Vlado, just bumping this thread again because as of 3.06..03 this issue still exists. Any chance that it can be fixed? It's coming up on the 2 year mark... Tnx!

e: I missed vlado saying they are looking into getting filtering working with cubemaps.
Filtering is not as important when rendering to VR - I find renderings viewed through a headset look best with it off. Just turn the AA up higher if you're fighting noise/shimmering, a filter would only make it blurry or too sharp.
