Update 3.20.02 to 3.40.04 changes render tint !?

After updating VRay as given in the title, our renderings got a much more warmer tint.
Only when choosing "NOT to use the updated algorithm ...".

Where does that come from ? Is there any new UI switch to compensate for that ?

The change was introduced in V-Ray 3.30 about a year ago; V-Ray should have asked you whether you want to update the scene or not, but in any case you can revert to the old sun/sky color space with this MaxScript command:

renderers.current.options_rgbColorSpace=0
