    Hello,

I have one issue with VRay proxy and material when rendering, it's black.

    1. It's default mesh object (GOOD)

    2. vray proxy (BAD)
    - Export all selected objects in a single file
    - create Multi/Sub-Object Mtl checked

    3. vray proxy (GOOD)
    - Export each selected object....

On material editor all it's ok, no issue.
I don't understand why this bug appear when rendering.

Is the material ID for the white top the same mesh matID number for the white sides or handle? Is it different? If it's different, before you create your proxy change it to an ID you know is working. If it renders okay at that point, it's probably some bad mesh problem.

Have you tried just creating a segmented box (an easy object for just testing purposes) and applied all the same matIDs? Is the matID that's showup up black also black on the box object when you create a single file proxy? If so, it could very well be a bug for single file proxy creation.

matID for top and side are the same, and different to handle.
I have test these two matID on new simple cylinder and one cube, all it's ok when I export to VRay proxy.
Possible mesh issue ? but I don't find the probleme, all seams ok.

But why export to multiple proxy file it's working good...

This is a longshot, but select the proxy and then 'import' the mesh. Check the matIDs first to make sure they are correct on that imported mesh, then apply the material and render. If it's okay, try exporting that new mesh as a proxy then render again.

          1. It's default mesh object
          2. It's proxy (exported as single file)
          3. It's proxy (2) imported as mesh
          4. It's (3) with matID fixed
          5. It's (4) exported to proxy as single file

          X. It's (2) converted to poly (right click, convert to...)

Would it be possible to send us this scene to support at chaosgroup.com so we could investigate further. Also please do mention this thread in your e-mail and let us know which V-Ray version you are using.

Thank you for sending us the scene it turns out this issue persist only in the latest official versions and only with this lid object. Could you please share how was the lid created or have you used any modifiers on it?
I forwarded the scene to the developers for investigation.

for the lid : (in order)
                  Editable spline
                  + Profil biseau
                  + Edit Poly
                  + shell
                  + OpenSubdiv

I have another paint bucket with this similar issue but on the handle only, the shape is completely different and I have used another way for create it:
                  Editable poly
                  + TurboSmooth

Thank you for the update. I try it but it didn't reproduce the issue. Anyway I'll forward the info to the devs.
