  • Normal Maps reflection black artifacts

    Dear Vray Team,

I encounter a problem rendering some objects with normal maps, and wanted to share as it seems like a strange rendering issue.
Initially i was rendering with Vray 3.3 and the problem was a lot worst so it seems this has been mostly addressed, however i still find some issues left.
You can see that there are several artifacts on the vray 3.3 and mostly gone except one on 3.4.

The other issue i found is that on the VrayNormalMap, when using the bump map slot it takes away the strength of the Normal Map slo which does not seem logical. (i had to double the Normal map intensity to get back the normal map intensity to more or less same as without bump)

I also tried the same scene with Corona, and wasn't perfect either but there were not black artifacts and the additional bump seem to work a bit more predictable.

I can share the scene if you think it will help to track down the issue.

    Thanks,

    M.

It's probably a silly question... but you're overriding your normal map gamma to 1.0, right?
