  • Vray 3.0 network license errors - rubbish support

    Hi

We are having network license errors, so after spending another £800 on render nodes and still having issues I sent a full list of our 20 render servers, associated license setup and all the information clearly laid out to asscertain what the problem was to Chaos Group and how we should look at solving it

My response after waiting 4 days:

In general network rendering is advised when you render animations with a lot of frames. For single frame renderings Distributed Rendering is advised.
If you need any further assistance, please reply to this email.

That's indeed useless. We'll track it down and we'll get someone to actually help you out.

    Best regards,

You should have received a new answer from our support. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Briefly - we've suggested a workaround for you to try while we investigate if this is a bug with the license server, a drawback of it that we could improve or there's something wrong with the VRay authentication.
In this process we might need some additional information from you, like license server versions, vray build versions, OS, etc, but should we need that information, we'll contact you again.
In any case, we'd be happy to know if the proposed workaround works for you and we'll update you once we have any useful information.

        Thank you.

          Thanks
Yes I got the workaround suggestion thanks and yes, happy to offer and further information as required to solve this. Not sure if the work around works with our full licenses on workstations (rather than just render nodes)but have written back to support. Also wondered if we could run EVERYTHING off one dongle attached to our lead render server unit...?

Yes you can do that. You need to generate and send WBC files from all of your dongles to support@chaosgroup.com and let us know on which dongle you want your licenses to be transferred.
