  • Newbie to Lens Effects - how ?

I really want to try out VRay Lens Effects, but it doesn't do any thing for me ?

I choose Bloom and Glare, and render, neither of those effects appear in my VFB render, so I twiddle with some settings, hit Update Effect, and the Max VFB pops up with a black, blank image......

I've tried assigning an object with an Object ID and checked the Object ID checkbox, again, nothing happens.....

If I check "Interactive" and then play with settings, I get a new 3DS Max VFB appear, a blank, black canvas, with nothing showing on it.

    ????

Please ignore - I've discovered that the Lens Effects are taken from the VFB Lens Effects Button and not the Effects Dialog box....... (so why is it there ?)

This is because if you would like to not use VFB it would be impossible to apply Lens Effects to Max Frame Buffer.
That's why there is option to add Lens Effects from Effects dialog which by design only works with MFB in order to avoid any doubling of the Lens Effects in the VFB.
So if VFB is preferable Frame Buffer use the Lens Effects from its button, if MFB is the Frame Buffer you like use the Lens Effects from the Effects Dialog box.

Maybe it needs renaming to reflect this subtle difference ?

(Or the Docs need to highlight it)

I had the same problem when I started using this, this should indeed be in the docs because I could never figure it out why it didn't work. So I make them work from the VFB. This explained it to me though. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, all add a note to make that clear in the documentation.
