3dsmax 2016 ... simple scene.. when i lunch 1 more copy of 3dsmax 2016 its like all the selection (faces... objects.. verices...) start to be laggy and slow...
its not the memory. i got 32 gb

i mean even with 2 cubes... when i shut down the extra copy of 3dsmax 2016 its back to be fast again... any idea??

update... its the same on 3dsmax 2017 and with 3dsmax 2014 its all OK.... why? any reason ??

      thanks for reply

im not talking here even on rendering processes... in even with 2 cube on the scene and in the other copy is empty scene

i try it on max 2017 and its the same... only on max 2014 its work with 2 or 10 copy smooth...

i wonder if its autodesk or even windows 7 issue...
btw i got gtx 750 ti and i try with gtx 1080 and its the same.. so its not the gpu

please if you guys got more ideas it will be great!

      thanks

you could try deleting your config, i`ve had issues with that some times.
            c:\users\<name>\appdata\local\autodesk\3dsmax\<3ds max version>\enu
move that folder to desktop(or just delete) and try that ?

Autodesk does not officially support running two copies of 3ds Max. Running two or more copies of 3ds Max can lead to very slow UI, corrupted settings, deadlocks and other issues. For more information, please contact Autodesk directly.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

step to check if you have the problem
                    1 - open max 2016
2 - create some boxes.. convert them to poly
3 - open 1 more copy of max 2016 (empty one in background)
4 - grab 1 box and press 4 to enter to poly mode... keep press off and on ... of and on.. its should be fast with no lag...
5 - try to select randomly boxes on the scene... its should select them fast
6 - try to open the customize dialog box.. its should open fast
                    this is the correct situation

in the unwanted situation all the steps happen slow and lugy... once you shut down the extra copy of max is return to be fast

I'm not the person to answer that question At home I have no problem running two Max'es, but at work as soon as a second copy is up, I can't get any work done. Like I said, talk to Autodesk about it, there's nothing that we can help you with.

                        Best regards,

Just to say that I don't experience this problem with 2016 or 2017. I can work with quite a few large scenes open. The problem is with the autosave though max saves one of the two open files so if you have any crash it could be costly.
