    3.5 beta question -
    "render current task"
    hangs on:
    "preparing global light manager"

    happens in either network renders or workstation only render attempts.
    scene was fine in 3.4

    VR 3.5 beta
    Win 7x64
    max 2017.1

    Hi,

    Do you get any error or warning in the V-Ray log window?
    I think we will need the scene file to investigate further what is going on, so please send us any scene that reproduces the issue to support@chaosgroup.com. We can supply our FTP server to upload the files there if needed.

      OK, I will send it today.
      - There is no error message; the MAX application screens simply "whites out and becomes unresponsive.

      2017.1.1 SF
      3,5 Beta
      1080 GFX

      OK; Just ran the file again & it seems to be working.

        well, OK, here is the white out when accessing the File list of the VFB:

        Then, when touched, the max application screen (as well as the vfb screen) proceeds to go full white & app is locked.

                Hi,
                Before I send the files, I will try to increase the TdrDelay key found at:
                HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ GraphicsDrivers
                from 8 seconds to 60 seconds.
                I'll let you know if this fixes the issue.

                  It appears that increasing the timing of the TdrDelay key found at:
                  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ GraphicsDrivers
                  may have cured the problem.

                  I will keep working with the file and let you know the results.

                  Let me know if you still want the files to confirm my preliminary findings.
