  • 3.5 Beta - Instancing objects while IPR is running leads to crash

As the title says. Happens every time I instance an object while IPR is running. Instancing lights seem to be fine.

    Hi,

I can't reproduce it in a quick test here. Can you give me some steps to follow or a max file?

Scene sent! After starting the IPR, clone an object (for example one of the cabinet doors). If it doesn't crash the first time try cloning a couple of more times. It eventually will crash. For me it's usually the 3rd time I clone an object. Anyways, apart from this problem, I've had just one time IPR crash on me and I've been using it in a production environment for the past 4-5 days with great results. It speeds the scene setup stage quite a bit and it's a very valuable tool when the scene is too heavy for RT GPU. Good job!

Below you can see a screenshot of the crash with the scene I sent you:

With Beta 2 and the nightly from 1st of February I'm still getting crashes when copying an object while IPR is running. I just sent the scene to both Vlado's and the Support email. I've got another scene that also crashes when copying an object. I can send that too if you need it.

By the way, I really like the progress with IPR, it's coming along really nicely. Now that we can lock the viewport and draw regions it's really a pleasure to use! Now we just need IPR to not start rendering from scratch when drawing a region over an already rendered portion of the image (like in RT) and it will be the bomb.

If you can get me more specific reproduction steps it would be great.

                  Hi Vlado,

                  SOrry for the long delay.
                  1) I've just started an IPR session working on an interior Room (lighted with a Vraydome w/hdri + 2 vraylights).
                  2) From a physical camera i tried to move the Vraylight just up and after few seconds it crashed to desktop.

                  UPGRADE (18:40)
                  I have reproduced it now.
Seems a problem related to how much you "stress" the engine.
I've started moving the light slow and it worked fine.
It crashed again only when i moved right and left more quickly.

I think this should be fixed in 3.50.03; if the issue is still there, let me know and I'll look again.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado
