  • Vray Denoiser Crash...

I've been trying it for a sequence from the Command Line as well as Lele's script and it crashes immediately every time.

    Any ideas anyone?

Does it happen with every file you try to denoiser of with this specific ines only ?
If it happens with the specific ones only, we will need the files (only 3 frames will be enough).
If it happens with every file (like, empty 800x600 vrimg for example), we will need more information about the machine and the build installed.

Thanks for the reply, Blago. Let me do some quick testing here and I'll be right back with you. In the event I need to send files, will you be wanting to send me ftp info? Or I can use my ftp server here as well...

      Thanks,

      -Alan

          Cool.

The empty test file did not crash the denoiser so I am sending you the files. See the link here:

          http://www.alaniglesias.com/TS_Sunset_HDR_.0002.zip

FYI I am running the 3.5 beta on Max 2017 and the Nov. 22 2016 denoiser build.

          Maybe I fat-fingered something somewhere...

          Thanks Blago!

I'm having crashes with denoiser tool and large images. Vray 3.5 Beta 2 here.

I rendered a small region (2000 px x 1000 px) of a 12 000 pixels wide image with a denoiser element and generate elements only mode. I used the Vray raw image file functionality to output a vrimg file with all the elements needed for the denoiser tool. When I try to denoise the image though, the denoiser tool crashes. I tried both CPU and GPU mode, and also disabling the denoise preview with "-display=0". None worked. I rendered the same way a low-res vrimg (1024 px) and it denoised fine. I think it's because of low ram, I watched the ram usage in task manager spike to 18 GB before it finally crashes. I've got only 32 GB of RAM. So can I somehow make it use less RAM even if it denoised slower or I need to buy more RAM?

Screenshot below. I can send the vrimg file if needed.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately you can't decrease the memory usage you would need more ram to denoise such huge resolutions.
I'll open an issue about the crash.

Ok, got it. Do you think 64 GB would suffice for such large resolutions or I would need 128GB?

In our environment it took around 32GB so 64 will be sufficent
