  • Caustics Noise

    Hi Folks,

I'm getting a lot of noise in the caustics of my IES light and I'm running out of ideas what to do about it.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

Maybe Direct visualization is turned on from the Caustics parameters? It can introduce some noise to the final render result.

I´m not sure, but would try these:
        1. deactivate GI (not sure if the IES light will emmit then...)...is the noise the same huge amount?
        2. activate "use local subdivs" - for me much much better to all the different issues - and set "min shading rate to 1"...what happens?
        3. try 2 "max subdiv" extrem settings...instead of 24 - try 12 or 48....what happens?
        4. try much higher caustics (I remember that I used 6000 before I was happy)
These are the step´s that I would make in this situations.
Hope it will bring better result´s...

Thanks for your reply, I tried a couple of things, but in the end I had to fake the effect. Caustics doesn't seem very useful or developed/supported in vray.
