  • No shadows from HDRI dome light when using brute force

I am using universal settings ( brute force and light cache) and a hdri light . While the light cache is calculating you can see the shadows cast by the hdri light , When it renders they are not there. If I change to irr map they show up again. Why would that be?

You have most likely "store with irradiance map" enabled in your DomeLight.

I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to again bump my suggestion to ignore this property on all lights as long as Irradiance Map is not set up as primary GI

Thanks for that , can I ask why it should happen?

When Store with IM option is enabled, V-Ray calculates the direct illumination of the light and shadows respectively with Irradiance Map.
When IM is disabled nothing is being calculated which could be a tricky moment like Recon442 already pointed out.

Let me check if we have that into our system.
Edit: It is there, I just subscribed this forum thread to the issue.
