  • IPR Crash to Desktop when Enabling 'Multiply by Back Diffuse' on VRay2SidedMtl

I don't have a scene to send (since it crashed, 2x), but I was testing a simple scene with a plane and ForestPro scattered grass on it. GI was BF/BF, and when I enabled 'Multiply by back Diffuse' on the VRay2SidedMtl it crashed to desktop.

    That's all, thanks

    Daniel

Tried multiple times but cannot replicate that behavior. Can you provide more information like versions of V-Ray/Max/ForestPro, example scene etc.
Also were you getting the crash with RT CPU or GPU?

      Hi Svetlozar,

Thanks for taking a look at this and sorry you haven't been able to duplicate. I emailed you guys a scene and linking to this thread. Just start IPR, open the material editor, double click on one of the VRay2Sided nodes and check 'Multiply By Front Diffuse.' Crashes every time for me.

I have found that the 3.5 beta 2 is very unstable when adjusting forestpack parameters (using latest beta of forestpack and max 2017)

Based on your comment I decided to try swapping Forest Pro Libraries (from one type of grass preset to another) while IPR was running and got an immediate crash. Just an FYI to the Chaosgroup team.

Yes, the are some issues with Forest Pro that I need to look into.

            Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Just some notes after trying the recent official release of 3.5:

              - The above crash w\ Forest Pro + enabling multiply by front diffuse still happens (to me, anyway.) Crash to desktop.
              - I started IPR, then tried to create a grass field in Forest Pro and got an 'unhandled exception' pop up window. It doesn't crash to desktop and restarting IPR fixed it.
              - When IPR is running, the Forest Pro object disappears from my viewport. This might be a forest pro problem or maybe even intended behavior?

Thanks for all the hard work, Chaosgroup!
