  • Refraction artifact - origin unknown

So i was rendering a simple preview for a client and noticed a really weired artifact in my glass that seems to be refraction related. first thing i did was to check if its somehow reflection related but turning off the reflection didnt helped, the artifact is still there so i guess its a refraction problem which i cant seem to solve, so i need you guys...

i stripped down the scene to just the glass/frame and a wall, merged it into a fresh scene and tried it again, problem is still there, i am runnning out of ideas since the artifact changes in apperance every frame. i attached the stripped down scene and 2 renderings showing the problem. the first 20 frames are rendering fine, then the artifact starts to show up...any ideas what is causing it and how i can fix this?

Attached are two renderings, frame 52 and frame 53, a sceenshot of the scene and the scene file. I am using max2017 and VRay 3.4.03

    regards
    Olli

It looks like a bug and we'll make a note of it.

Turning Embree off seems to stop the artifact from appearing, though.

Thanks! It was driving me crazy. I will try turning Embree off for now.
