What would cause those strange red splotches - the scene worked fine with vray 3.4.

Is "force colour clamping" on or off in the VRay frame buffer?

I'm not sure what's going on exactly. Do you have a scene for this?

      Best regards,

        Force colour claming was on.

Although it's weird how it happens - it seems to happen in different places - not the same time each time.

Do you need the whole scene Vlado? maps and proxies etc? Even if turning off colour clamping works?

Force colour clamping didn't fix the issue.

The scene is way too large to upload, with all it's assets - and it's hard to diagnose without every asset.

Proof of that is the fact that, this is what was happening:

There were some Revit generated materials in the scene that were nowhere near the problem items - I ran a blanket material conversion and it seems to have fixed the issue.

So I guess on one level, non vray materials are causing a strange chain reaction into vray materials.

i guess first step diagnosis in future is to run the vray material converter.
