  • Understanding - Online License Server (OLS)

So the way I understand it, is the OLS is going to take the place of the dongle.

So, we cannot use the dongle anymore with beta 3.5.02?

I just setup a new render farm and my 5 nodes only see 1 license, so that's 1 for my ws and 1 for a node, is this normal? I own, 1 ws + 5 nodes license...I logged in to vray on each node and it says 1 license, where as before it said 5, I'm confused.

Do the nodes have to be connected to the internet? Because in past, I've setup my network so the nodes were not connected to the internet for security reasons?

Can someone help me figure out how the OLS works now so I can try and debug these issues...thanks.

Also, when I try to download license server 4.3 it says it's an expired download.

OK, nevermind, I got the nodes to work. I just had to mess with, and try some things out.

so what happens when the internet breaks ? or chaos servers go down ? i hope it`s not going online license only. we can`t afford down time like that. i haven`t seen anything saying it will be online only.

          anthonyh,
I located some docs on the OLS that I read little more carefully and found we can generate a license file to run locally so our dongle can work offline with the nodes. At least that is how I understand it.

          I haven't tested it yet.

I`d hope so. I`m never a fan of always online DRM/licensing.
