  • Vray IPR Update Issues.

I'd like to point out a few "issues" with IPR. While using IPR I'll update this thread with the minor issues that are there. You might be aware of these but I haven't found them and the IPR threads are a bit scattered so maybe it's better to bundle them in one thread to keep it a bit clear.

    First things:

-When going into sub object mode and making a selection the IPR already starts updating even when there's no change in the geometry already. Not sure if this can be fixed.

-Changing the color mapping settings (any setting) in the render dialogue doesn't make a change, a refresh is necessary.

    EDIT [1]

-I have to stop the IPR when overridemtl is enabled and I want to disable it. Also vice versa.

    EDIT [2]

-Unhandled exception when adding render elements and click refresh.

    That's it for now

That being said, I'd like to thank Vlado and team for their efforts with the new 3.5. Great job guys and girls.

just to add, doing something as simple as changing autosmooth in editable poly forces IPR to start all over again from scratch

I was thinking how feasible is it to impliment a feature that a mask is created for the object that is being work on so the rest of the image doesn't need updating until done working on it (unless you change the camera or POV of course). Just thinking out loud, I can already think of a few reasons why it wouldn't really work but just throwing it out there.

We've been thinking of a way to focus the IPR on the currently selected object/material, we need to do some experiments to see what approaches will work best. Thanks for the other reports too - will see if there is a way to prevent these unnecessary updates.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Yeah, some sort of "automatic render object only" When in Sub-Object mode or even when you have an object selected and the Modify Panel is active...

Probably asking for a little too much here....

With IPR when clicking the "stop" button in the VFB, setting the Render Mask to "selected" and then starting IPR again, does IPR the selected object only while the rest of the render does not change! Sadly for each newly selected object you have to stop/start IPR again.
Making a button or shortcut to speed up this workflow already would help a lot.

It is a good thought but I think that first of all I'd rather have the IPR working 100% reliably and updating everything correctly even if it means to completely re-render the image before adding adaption algorithms like that - but I'm sure you guys think that aswell

Another one. I have to stop the IPR when overridemtl is enabled and I want to disable it. Also vice versa. Not sure if this is supposed to work. Added to the list above.
