  • Having problems with scene on GPU

Hello, i need someone from support to help me troubleshoot particular scene.

Where should i send link with scene?

Preparing render for ages, renders fine on CPU but cpu is not an option.

Tried bunch of nightlies and official versions still the same, however when i override material to grey everything renders fine.

There isn't incompatible materials, gpu can render everything and it doesn't show errors. If i lower resolution which is not an option either it renders fine on GPU.

It is same with texture resizing or full size textures.

    Thank you!

Do you have any displaced geometries in the scene ?
You can send us that scene file for inspection to our support email > support@chaosgroup.com and please don't forget to add this forum thread in the description.

      Hey,

Thanks for fast reply. Already submitted scene to support. ticket(599077)

Even though there is Displacement it wont start even if i disable it(first thing i did) along with other stuff i tried, just can't solve it.

      Thanks

        Hello,

Since there is lot's of brickwork in the scene, obviously displacement was used, however it was added in material not with modifier, from whatever reason vray won't disable displacement in material when unticked in global switches.

So when i disabled displacement in material everything was rendering fine, of course as always something went wrong while troubleshooting, i missed one material so problem persisted even though i thought no way there is displacement in the scene...

I hope this was the issue and not some random freak occurrence that will pop out later...

        Thanks

          Thank you for the files.
The big delay before the actual render process is due to the Displacement indeed. Unfortunately it's not possible to deactivate it from the global switches options since they are not taken into account when render on GPU. It's something that we are working to improve for the next releases. However, what you can do to fix this really slow process is:
*) go to Default displacement tab of the render settings / system and increase the edge length value
*) or add a V-Ray displacement modifier on top of the modifier stack and set the max subdivisions to 4 or 8 for an example.
          Hope this helps.
