  • IPR stops on "Preparing Tone Operator" after every change

    Hi guys,
I just installed 3.5, and am anxious to start working with all the new features. I'm most anxious about IPR, and I'm trying to work with it, however I think I'm not doing something right. Any time I make a change... either a material, or drag a new region box... IPR just stops. And at the status bar below it always says "Preparing Tone Operator". Clicking the refresh button does nothing. I can only click "stop" and then restart it. I just changed the Primary GI to Brute Force (from IRmap), but that made no change.

    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!!

Hmmm.... ok, did I miss it somewhere where it says IPR works in Perspective viewports, but not in Camera viewports?? Once I switched out of my VrayPhysical Camera, IPR works as you'd expect. When I switched back to the camera viewport, same problem.

Seems like it might be due to the fact that the camera was created in Vray 3.4. Now that I'm tinkering in a brand new scene, I created a camera with 3.5 and it works as expected.

perhaps, wrong exposure control in the old scene?

Could be Lele. I had ran into the problem again with a new v3.5 camera. Are you thinking exposure settings in the camera? or in the Environment dialog?

I'm thinking environment dialog, but really just thinking out loud.
Any scene where it reproduces would be great as i've never encountered the issue myself...

                Hello,

I think it may be the same problem I reported a few days ago in this thread.

I have come across this too, I am also getting the progress log stuck on "Building light cache"
Thankfully I have found a potential work around - simply hide the active camera.

@ Lele the following file exhibits the issue just start IPR and "building light cache" keeps flashing up in the progress window https://we.tl/KdCtOTVaud
Deleting and re-creating a physical camera, removing the exposure control, resetting render settings and merging into a new scene doesn't stop it.
Additionally if you keep hold of the left mouse button on the rendering window it will render.

I also experienced this problem. So far I found at least two possible causes :
1- Instanced camera. If the camera is instanced, IPR gets stuck and doesn't start rendering
2- Any kind of script or plugin that orients objects to the camera. For eg I sometimes use AVIZ A2Dimage and if I don't hide those objects, IPR also gets stuck.

Set the Lens Shifts of your cameras to 0. This is the workaround for now, a fix is coming soon.

                            Hi Peter

                            Thats good news.
If you hide the active camera it will render and with lense shift.
