  • 3.5 IPR - crashes with Forrest Pack

    Hi,
IPR quite unusable with FP, crashes almost on every parameter change.
Straight crashes to desktop + some runtime errors.
Unsure if this is in FP side or Vray side though

so it looks like FP just doesnt really like 3.5 - no matter if you use IPR or normal render.
I get the blue Wheel all the time - max stops responding :-/

        What FP is this ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Yes, you should be using FPP v5.2.2, which is the first to be compatible with VRay v3.5

I just noticed my forest pack pro expired last month and so I would have to pay again just to make it work with vray 3.5. that why I think max+too many plugins sucks!

I understand and I'm so agree with you !!!
Take off all those plugins from 3ds max and there is no much left...

I also find that the new IPR crashes when using Forrest Pack. I will check if I have the latest FP update!

yeah, for me it's the main problem with FP licensing ...it's true that it's fair and theoretically optional but it's pratically tied to VRay releases that leads to "new VRay - new FP"; they don't provide a FP previous release compatibility with newer VRay (like VRay does for instance) so ...if subscription has expired ...you are out ..like me right now

i rendered a 18mln polys exterior few days ago using Max 2017 + Forest 5.2.2b + vray 3.50.03 and it worked well for me.

This morning i tried also IPR with a simple scene (a plane with forest applied) triying to add some simply objects to the scene , move lights , modify materials , camera settings, and so on and i didn't get any crashes.

I just got a crash when i forgot to stop IPR and tried to open another Max file.... but it's not a regular situation i think, could not be considered a bug.

Again i opened my exterior above and tried in bucket mode, progressive and IPR without any visible error untill now.

                        Hope could help.

We just uploaded a new Forest beta, which should solve the crashes with IPR.

Please note some problems may exist yet, because IPR uses a mixed viewport-render mode and Forest was not designed to work in that way.
If you find other issues, please report them in our beta forum and we'll try to fix them.

                          Thanks !
