  • Velvet shader not baking properly

    Hello,
I'm trying to get a a model that has been shaded with falloff map to look like velvet.
It looks fantastic in v-ray but when I bake the texture things look horrible !

Is this a common problem with V-ray texture baking ?
Thanks so much for any help.

Likely because the falloff is dependent on the camera angle, like say a reflection would. If you bake it down into maps you lose the connection to the camera angle and it will look weird. Same if you would bake down the reflection of a mirror and then look at it from a different angle.

        Thanks Rens.
        Makes sense.
So there is no way to force it to bake anyway ?

I'm thinking I'll have to render a separate matte pass that will project a falloff map (probably in the diffuse channel) to use as a blending matte in P.shop.
That way I can fake the look in post.

        Thanks anyway.
