  • Slowness with 3.5

I only updated from 3.2 to 3.5 yesterday so I'm not familiar with all the changes yet but my first tests of an exterior scene are showing a significant slow down from 3.2. I've gone with the recommended default settings in 3.5 so I'm sure there is room for improvement I'm just not sure where to look. To give you an idea of the time differential I've rendered the same scene on two identical computers with the same specks and speed, the scene rendered with 3.2 finishes in 19:23, the one rendered with 3.5 finishes in 25:01. The scene has 1 dome light and a Vray Sun, the dome light is using an HDRI to light the scene and as a background. I'm using Forest Pro 5.2.0 and no other plugins, lights are set to Adaptive. I'd really appreciate any help that you can give me.

Would it be possible to send us the scene to support so we could investigate further?

Instead of going with the default settings I chose to use my old settings from 3.2 and immediately saw massive speed gains. What ever the V-Ray warning does that changes your scene to the updated features is causing the slow down.

What that options does is explained very well in Vlado's post bellow:

You may try to enable or disable each of those parameters one by one and see which influences the slowdown.
I don't think that any of those changes should have any negative impact over render times so it might be a good idea to send the scene for investigation.
