  • Could not obtain a license (1001)

    Hi,

We are in the middle of updating from Max2014/Vray 3.40.03 to Max2016/Vray 3.50.04. Updated to Vray License Server 4.3.1

I'm getting lots of these errors when using network rendering, as well as locally. Using Max 2014 and Vray 3.40.03.

Error: RenderTask: Unexpected exception (Failed to open the max renderer.
    2017/03/31 08:13:32 ERR: [06944] [05952] [V-Ray] Could not obtain a license (1001).
    2017/03/31 08:13:32 ERR: [06944] [05952] [V-Ray] 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

It will eventually get one, but it has to keep retrying the job until it gets one, usually the job error limit hits first and it doesn't render.

Usually we have around 3-4 licenses always free, as well as a surplus of node licenses.

I've done some testing on my local machine whereby I start max 2014 with vray already assigned as the default renderer, and just hit render. I will get the license error straightaway. Once I click render again, it will go through fine.

I have tried the environment variable VRAY_CONNECT_TIMEOUT at 120000, but this doesn't help, I've just noticed it takes longer for my ip address to be registered on the vray license server as 'in use'.

Network usage only at 1-5mbps on a gigabit connection, so it doesn't look like a bottleneck.

I don't think it does it when using Max2016, but need to do a bit more testing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.
