  • scene errors ? Long rendertime...?

Im not very good at animations and have six 10 sek clip that needs to be done within 3 weeks and without rebusfarm to eat all my comission...

Im using solidrock Bf / Lc animationpreset and "good" quality. Rebusfarm did this at 2h / frame 1080x1920.

Is this normal ? I mean it?s far from perfekt quality settings. Lc is 1200 with this setting...

I?m using the latest vray and max 2017. The scene contain a vraysun / vraysky and 1 vray plane light. spotlights in the roof and ies-lights under the cabinets.
I tried disabling the spots and ies but rendertime seemed not much shorter.

And with adaptive lights and all the tricks nowaday Im thinking this is too much with 2h ?

A bit difficult to say without seeing the render/scene. But have you tried resetting the vray settings to default, and merging into a new scene.
I have not used solidrock in years so couldn't say if it has to do with that.

I have merged the scene to a new and reset vray. I rised the Lc to 2000 and Retrace to 6. Changed the max subdivs to 12. ( hoping that denois takes care of the noise )

Rendertime is around 1h ? ( will be 1.5h at rebus ) Maybe this is normal f?r 1080p using motion blur and (light) dof ?

you don't need 3d motion blur or dof it will kill you.

I would say 1-1.5 hours for such interior is very good render time. If you really want motion blur, use vector blur in comp its more then enough.

That depends on where you are compositing it. I'm not sure if AE can do vector based blur now (perhaps it can) but programs like fusion (which is free) or nuke have built in vector blur tools which read vray velocity pass just fine. Same goes for zdepth too, if you are interested in doing some subtle post dof.

In a test I just did it rendered in 10 min 45s with mb and dof. And 9:45 without. Thats nothing in the total rendertime in production ?? And the dof will work through windows and mb is really good.
