  • VrayDistanceTex and standard Max displace modifier

This combination (VrayDistanceTex and displace modifier) works only when displaced object is at coordinate origin.
    Is there any workaround?

I can't think of any workaround for this, but it's a bug that we will try to fix.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

It is not fixable due to the way modifiers are expected to work in 3ds Max.

A work-around is to use an Edit Mesh or Edit Poly modifier to move the vertices of the plane where you want them to be.
