  • Installed Max 2017 and latest V-ray - Now DR missing maps

I have been using Max 2014 for years, using BB to assign jobs to DR. It has worked perfectly. I now installed Max 2017, and the V-Ray 35004 for Max 2017. Installation went well, connected to the render node, but the node is rendering without texture map. I'm confused why this would be an issue now, but not before? Thank you for any suggestions.

Any ideas on this? I have tried everything I can think of. Firewall is off, antivirus is off, user control setting is all the way down. I'm lost.

Is the newly-installed version of max set to UNC?

No. I have seen that in previous searches. I don't really understand how to switch my workflow to that method.

They are on a shared network. I can browse to the network paths from both machines. Like I said, it all worked fine before changing versions of Max.

did you start backburner on the DR machine after the new max install? I think its needed before DR can work. Additionally can you start max / load scene on the DR machine and render it to see if everything resolves fine? it could perhaps point to a problem of some sort. For example for my farm I run a deployed installer, but sometimes it does not fully install so it renders with DR but completely wrong

I have not tried launching BB on it's own. I forgot all about that, and assumed I would not need to since I already have, but I suppose it is a fresh BB install. I will try that.

DANG! That didn't work. Still getting non textured squares where node is rendering.

Right, there is a vray spawner log you can check on DR slave to see what might be going on. Also just a thought the dr node has all plugins installed, are you using something that might not be installed on the second machine?

I just got back in town from a short vacation. I just checked, and I haven't yet installed any plugins for that to be an issue. And I can't find any log for the spawner. I wonder if I should attempt to convert my work flow to UNC. Is there a good resource showing how to make this change?

                        ** UPDATE **

After some research about how to use UNC paths, I have had successful network rendering. Still figuring my best workflow, but it seems to be working for the moment.

Did you try using mapped network drives? probably best solution for small scale setup.

                            They were mapped drives before.
