  • Enabling Motion blur, not able to render scene

Hi I am having trouble rendering an image with a particle system and motion blur.
    (Vray 3.50.03)

"error UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Preparing instances Last marker is at ../src/vrayrender.cpp, line 3864: Preparing camera sampler"

Is this perhaps a known bug?

its hard to say based on the info you provided. What kind of particles, is it instanced geometry? is the particle reading from disk cache? Is your system running out of ram?

      Hello, Menno

This information is indeed too limited to make any suggestions. Could you specify the type of particles you use, the motion blur setup, the renderer you use (whether Production, Active Shade or IPR) and any extra information about your scene that might be important? It will be best if you send a simplified scene to margarita.stoeva@chaosgroup.com and so I will look into it.
      Thank you!

      Best regards,
      Margarita

        Hi,
I can imagine the info isn't enough but I was hoping the number in error message would be recognized.

I have included the part of the scene which produces the error.

As you can see it is a simple PFlow system. When I enable the motionblur checkbox of the Vray camera, the error occurs

          Hello, Menno

Thank you very much for sending the scene. It was very helpful!
I can reproduce the exception here. I can't say what causes it, but it's something related to PFSource SmallDebris002. If you create an Empty flow and link it instead of the SmallDebris002 to Event 006, delete the problematic SmallDebris002, there is no crash when rendering your scene at the starting frame. You can copy any setting in the new source from the original. I hope this workaround suits your needs at the moment until our developers look into the crash. The issue is now logged in our bug tracking system.
If there are more issues related to this, I'll do my best to help you further!

          Best regards,
          Margarita

            Thanks Margarita,

Creating an new empty flow and connect it to the network did the trick..
            still weird though

            have a nice evening
