  • VRayCamera Box Camera

    Hi.
I need to render an environment map out of a scene. Now i found out that the VRayCamera in 3ds Max has viewer options than in Maya.

    Why is that?

Is there any chance to get a Box Camera environment map out of my max scene?

    and...
If my only option is the VRayDomeCamera, how do i have to place the dome camera in my scene to get an valid environment map?

    Thanks for some Help

In your Render Setup window, under the V-Ray tab, look at the Camera rollout.

Where it says "Type", there will be an drop down list with multiple camera options. Set it to Cube 6x1 to get a cubic environment render output.

thanks, i searched on the camera itself not in the render settings, doh!

So, what about my lights, they are directional, so they show up with black vignettes each. shouldn't they just merge with the background (grey), where they are black?

the lights are visible. and when i set the directional to 0 they turn invisible...
