  • VRay GPU dragging in produstion mode

recently RT CUDA is very fast in active shade mode but totally unresponsive in production mode.
Also when using a camera it totally doesn't update any change, be it in IPR or ACTIVESHADE...

Is it already known or is it specific to my case?

V-Ray GPU is basically the same engine, regardless of when set in Production or Active Shade. What is different are the default settings, and that it updates changes only in Active Shade. If you set V-Ray RT GPU as production and start IPR, it should start the Active Shade instead.

The default settings in Active Shade are made for fast feedback - so it update as quick as possible. The default settings in Production are optimized for high GPU utilization - it will seem to update slower, but the rendered passes will be cleaner and the overall rendered result should be ready quicker. You can adjust those settings to suite your needs though (it is primarily the "rays per pixel" and "ray bundle size" from the Advanced V-Ray RT GPU settings).

      ok,
but if I copy the settings from active shade to production, it is still hanging at pass 0 like forever...
If I use a ligthcache in GI secondary it hangs after merging the light cache passes...
Worth noting that the fans of my 4 gpus are not getting wild so I feel they aren't really used.

When using IPR/ACTIVESHADE the fans are making a lot of noise, which seems fair but even with low GPU thread I can't even write to this webpage, the interface is sluggish as hell.

Also take note that when rendering a camera nothing udates, hide/unhide, change shader, change geometry, moving the camera etc.

I just updated both to the latest nightly and the last CUDA drivers...

I would be happy to share the scene if it can help.

You can send the scene to blagovest.taskov@chaosgroup.com
