  • VRayVRmatMtl - Failed to initialize Python editor

VRayMtl is generally my material of choice. I've tinkered with VRayVRmatMtl in the past but haven't used it in production. Now I'm finding a great use for this material type. However, when I try to Open Editor, Max gives me a "Failed to initialize Python editor" error message. This occurs in Max 2017. The editor opens fine in Max 2015. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this.

    Max 2017 SP3
Vray 3.50.04 (the error also happened with 3.5.03)

    Hello,

Unfortunately we had trouble enabling the editor in Max 2017 but we are still exploring options. It should work fine in previous versions of Max.

    Best regards,

Thank you. I'm glad it's not just me.

For what I'm doing I can set up the materials in 2015 and plug them into my 2017 library.
