  • Are lights handled differently between ActiveShade and Production for RT?

I was working with RT CUDA using ActiveShade and HDR Light Studio and got all my lights dialed in, then I switched to RT CUDA Production and the lighting looks different. I lost some shading I was after. It looks like only one light is not reacting the same, it seems brighter in production.

Is there a difference between how AS handles lights then production?

I turned all lights off except my hdmi dome, and AS showed more shading, production showed less shading...brighter in shadow areas.

There shouldn't be much of a difference in this case, but without the scene it's hard to say what may be wrong.

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

this has nothing to do with trace depth/max transparency level in your case, right?
If trace depth is too low, vray will compute a fake lighting so to speak. Not a pro here, but I had some issues with that in the past and am now always dialing trace depth up, at least over 5...

Ok, thanks...I'll look into it more today, just thought I'd see if there was a change made in the last vray update.

I forgot to say that I'm speaking about transparent objects, materials with refraction
