  • FOV Issue with DR

    Hi
this is a somewhat obscure small problem. In my office we have DR machines with Max 2017 installed. Originally my plan was to use 2017 across the board but I've had so many problems with 2017 that I've gone back to 2016 for production on the workstations (but that's another story). Generally the distributed rendering works OK sending from a Max 2016 machine to 2017 render nodes. In the attached file however there is an issue with the buckets being rendered differently. After some testing I found that unticking the specify FOV checkbox in the physical camera fixes the issue (it had a wide FOV of 80 degrees). The same scene loaded in 2017 and sent to the 2017 render nodes has no problems. Thankfully there is an easy fix for this one, but thought you may want to know about it.

if you're interested - the stripped Max file is here:

So to sum up - the attached file sent from a 2016 machine to a 2017 DR machine will render the FOV slightly differently with "Specify FOV" ticked in the camera.

    Hi,

As far as I know, Autodesk changed some things regarding FOV calculations in the Physical Camera between 2016 and 2017 versions.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
