  • DR buckets produce dark patches

I've got a scene where I use a 2nd PC for DR rendering. I'm getting darker patches on the wall from its buckets. Using just my PC is fine. What could be the problem? Both PCs have the same Vray version installed - 3.50.04.

There are no bitmap textures used, only procedural ones - Gradient Ramp, Vray Softbox etc. I've rendered several faucets so far as part of this same project and this is the only scene that has this problem.

Here's a screenshot. Let me know if you want to check the scene and I'll send it.

I've had this kind of thing happen a while ago - can't quite put my finger on what I did to fix it - but I think it was something to do with the HRDI in the environment - when i removed it - it rendered ok - if memory serves me correctly?

Typically - i'm having the same problem on a new job - will post back if I sort it - the DR PC is reporting of some missing maps - so maybe that could be upsetting it...?

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm not using HDRI's in the scene. Must be something else... Unfortunately I don't have the time currently to do troubleshooting because of the tight deadlines.

Just had the same thing happen with my scene - only thing i'd changed was the 'clamp output' and sub pixel mapping - which I had enabled.
With these 2 on - I get darker buckets from the DR machine.
Turned them both off - and all working good again - worth a try if you have them on?

Nope. Both these options are turned off. Actually, I almost never turn these on since they limit the dynamic range of colors and lighting and you get physically incorrect images.

Bizarre - hope you get it sorted. I did restart Max and the render slave too - maybe simply that sorted it for me!

We got other complains about that issue here:
              https://forums.chaosgroup.com/showth...s-with-problem

Is there a difference between the Region settings between machines and more specifically Decimal Symbol?

Would it be possible to send us V-Ray log files from both machines just after the render completes?
Does the issue occur on every scene or just on that one?
Is there any difference if you launch V-Ray spawner manually or as a windows service?

Decimal symbol is the same. I've now rendered the whole batch of products for this project and this is the only scene that showed this issue. TBH, I think this is the first time in a very long time that I see the dark patches problem. I will try the other suggestions when I have some free time and send you the results.
