  • 3D Displacement Creates Wavy Areas in Render

    Hi there,

I'm relatively new to this and couldn't locate a similar post so here we are:

Using a 3D displacement map on surfaces creates areas of deformed wavy geometry instead of straight.

The UVs were applied before the displacement modifier was added.

Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening and what I'm not doing right?

    Thanks,

Try to subdivide the wall and maybe lower the Edge length to 2. Unless you need to clean up corners, 2d would work for you, too.

This happens to me occasionally when using 3D displacement also. In some cases, increasing edge length has helped, but most of the time I don't know how to resolve it other than switching back to a 2D displacement. There are certainly some cases where using 3D displacement would be preferred, so does anyone really understand what is happening here and how to best steer around it?

I'm agree with you, It certainly needed more subdiv' and some adjustment like the Edge Lenght

Do you really need 3D displacement ?
        (Sorry for my bad english)
