    I've a strange problem in the last 2 projects I'm doing.

    I'm sure that is not an overlap faces matter.

    I've tried to investigate enabling all the render channels and my attention fallen into VrayShadows channel.

    Looking to those squared artifacts, I've tried to disable the Adaptive Lights option and, checking the VrayShadow channel, it seems that is the reason..

    Here the PSD file with some tests VrayShadows.zip

    Is it good to have those square with Adaptive Lights ON?

    If it's fine, what do you suggest to check what's going on?

            Just to report you that yesterday I had another artifacts issue. Now I'm using the nightly build of the 19th of May
            I'm using 3dsmax 2016.

              I came here to report the same issue. It seems to happen randomly and at varying degrees of intensity. It also seems to like rough speculars. I thought it was a DR bucket issue at first but then I started seeing similar "trapezoid" shapes similar to what bardo posted. I'm running 3.50.03 - turning off adaptive lights worked - thanks for the tip bardo

                is this fixed in 3.6?
                we are getting it a lot in large scenes on 3.5.03
