DR render nodes caught in a cycle of loading the scene and dropping out

I'm rendering a scene with 2 workstations and 2 dedicated render nodes and the render nodes won't start rendering it. They are caught in a repeating cycle of loading the scene and then dropping out. It renders fine with 2 of the workstations. The render nodes have enough RAM to fit the scene, the scene takes only 7 GB to render. I tried restarting the spawners and the render nodes themselves but it didn't help. What could be causing this cycle? Please check the screenshot below.

most likely they are crashing upon opening the file. I suggest load 3ds max and open this scene on the DR node to see if there are any errors that come up.

Can I do that? I have activated copies of Max only on the workstations. The ones on the DR nodes are just trials so I can't start Max with user interface.

It depends on a few things. You can start a trial for 30 days, if you never started max there before it should be enough. Additionally with new subscription, for example I can login with my account and start max on any machine, provided I don't engage the license elsewhere.
