  • Vray Plugin Scene Load Times

    Hi All,

This isn't a new issue for us. After employing an IT consultant to try and speed up our network (our open and save times in 3DS max are becoming unbearable), we have isolated the issue to the Vray plugin.
A file that was taking 4:40 minutes to open now takes 1:17 minutes, (when we move the vray plugins out of the plugins folder so they don't load).
Now...just wondering how we debug this, is there a log file to see what is going on????
We have a license dongle on the server and the server is running the Vray License Manager as a service. (not sure if its a license issue or what).
We have turned off all firewalls and antivirus, but this has not changed the load times.
    Can some one please help!!!

Are there any log files we can investigate or different ways we can try to resolve this.
I will re-install the VRL Service on the server, maybe this can be run locally to see if this is the issue.

In my personal experience when its V-Ray related its usually materials that it has problems finding or it is having trouble finding the license. One thing you can try for the license is if you are using the server name like //LicServer were you have the workstations pointing to the license server try changing it to the server's IP address instead, or if you are using the IP then try using the computer name. I know it sounds odd but I manage 3 locations and 2 are fine using the computer names and the other I have to use static IP's. For the material part its is harder to solve, just make the library is available on a fast network connection and on fast drives on the server that is hosting it.

First though since V-Ray is so fast to install I would uninstall (ONLY V-RAY) completely and reinstall. If it still persists after that and or the above I would have Chaos look at any relevant logs and take it from there.
      Cheers,
