  • 3ds max 2016 crash after vray update

    Hi.

we're having issues with max crashing after upgrading to the latest 3.6 nightly.
    so far I have tried:

    uninstalling vray
deleting all associated files in max folder
    deleted vrayinstall.ms from startup scripts
deleted all associated files in chaos group folder
renamed the local 2016 - 64bit folder to ensure it's not a corrupt menu file - max recreated a fresh one as intended so everything is as standard on restart

3dsmax starts so long as vray is not installed (tried rolling vray back but it didn't help). Can anyone recommend any other solutions than a complete reinstall of max?

After a few attempts at the above and a couple of reboots max and vray are now starting together.

Now the problem is that the vray is not picking up it's license. We've got the ols installed with the dongle activated but it's not picking up any licenses (or dongle) after this little fiasco.

    Any ideas?

What's the license error that you get? If you can see the license listed when you navigate to http://localhost:30304 on the license server computer - please make sure that the license settings are correct - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...cense+Settings
Please note, that when changing the license settings you need to restart 3ds Max for the change to take effect.

        Hi Ivan,

Unfortunately I'm not getting any licences showing. I have checked the settings using the info provided and everything is configured as standard. 127.0.0.1:30304

Looking at the server messages it seems that there are some errors being flagged. I have attached the diagnostics logs here for review.

FYI. All has been working for months, as soon as I tried upgrading to vray 3.6 in the nightlies the licence has started playing up.

        Cheers Luke
