    I see.
    Does anyone from Chaos has an update on this? I can't imagine we are the only one not being able to separate folders with the vfb and deadline.

      Deadline submissions through the monitor should work fine with Separate channels On. Do you use this approach ?

        Actually no, we use the submitter that Thinkbox provides. To be honest i find quite trivial to submit a job with the monitor, and i'd stick with just "remember to uncheck the vfb" approach. We have a scene warning in deadline that helps you with that so now it happens quite rarely that someone fails to save render elements.
        Still, it would be much smoother that just have it working like one would expect.
        If you say the problem is just on thinkbox side, no worries, i'll see what we'll be able to come up with them.

          Did you have any success with them? I have the same problem here and found nothing in the forums of thinkbox..

            Still no.
            I have to be honest we haven't followed along that much, it isn't a show stopper issue so from time to time i check if the new vray or new deadline does the trick, but it hasn't happened so far.

              I have opened a ticket on thinkbox-support - let's see what comes out of it. I keep you up to date..

                The developers/support at Thinkbox can not reproduce the problem - and now it seems to be stalling because they assume that the cause lies in our infrastructure. Which is also obvious.
                Am I the only one with that problem? Can anybody else submit jobs to Deadline via SMTD (Integrated Submitter) and store Render Elements while using die V-Ray Framebuffer? - or are all of you using the Launcher only?

                  We submit via the integrated Max submitter using the vray frame buffer... both raw setup and separated elements work fine. Sorry, not much help but just so you know it does work. We don't have anything fancy, just basic install of deadline and installs of the supplied submitter for max (on the latest version 10).

                    Good to know that I'm alone
                    We also have nothing fancy - even a complete fresh and basic install of Deadline. Can you provide me some information about your environment? Windows Version/Build, Max Version/SP and V-Ray Version? Is it Deadline 10.0.14.1? Do you run Deadline Repository on a Windows or Linux Server?

                    Thanks in advance

                      Nevermind. After I deleted my user profile and created a new on everything works as expected and all the Render Elements were saved. I have no idea what the problem was but it was definitely not the SMTD. Maybe some old settings/INI Files/scripts/plugins or what else.

                        Watch out for "use local rendering" which will render to the local drive of a node first and then copy the result to a server, i'd a lot of issues with it and EXR options a few years back.

                          Hi!

                          We had the same problem and i found that you have to check the "update render elements path" option under render/3dsmax pathing options in the Deadline submitter inside 3dsmax to make it work

                          in this way you will have the render elements in the relative folders if you use the vray frame buffer feature or not
                          if you use the vray frame buffer separate render channel option, the path specified there will override the 3dsmax output path

                          if you don't want to use the "update render elements path" feature with the vray frame buffer and separate folder active you have to delete the path of each render elements and leave them empty

                          i hope this will help

                            We have our own Scene Tool and I utilized the SMTD settings and functions to submit to the queue. We recently went from DL8 to DL10 and render elements stopped saving.

                            When SMTDSettings.LocalRendering = true; Render elements do NOT write to a network share from the Vray Frame Buffer.

                            For my installs SMTDSettings.LocalRendering defaulted to true

                            It should default to false.

                            I was not able to find where this lives in the dialog, but it should be in the documentation.

                            Thanks for the thread. I've been struggling with this for a week now.

                            To be sure do both:

                            SMTDSettings.IgnoreRenderElements = false
                            SMTDSettings.LocalRendering = false
