  • Vray Advanced Distributed Rendering Problem

I'm having a problem with distributed rendering. The Forest Pack Pro lawn is rendering with differing shades of color between the two computers used for the distributed rendering. Everything else is rendering fine. The trees in this rendering are Evermotion models scattered with Forest Pack and have no issues. I have recently installed Vray 3.60.01 and the updated version of Forest Pack for 3.60.01. I've seen this in the past but usually a re-render will alleviate this. In this case, it does not and is repeatable.

it looks like one computer is dropping the textures, i'd check the 3ds max user paths and make sure that the textures are pointing to the right location on both computers.

I rendered a different smaller scene but similar many respects including a Forest Pack lawn on the same DR system and it rendered fine. All the other textures and maps are happy so I don't get it. Has anyone else seen something like this?

Are there any warnings or errors on the render slave? What happens if you turn on the option to check for missing files?

        Best regards,
        Vlado

I've seen it before when i was doing a similar project. I'd download the colin's scripts relink bitmaps and run that before rendering - or you can check in asset tracking, but it definitely looks like one of the computers is dropping the textures.

have you set up forest pack on both computers such that the textures are located in the same location? ie. C:\Program Files (x86)\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\maps or do you have them on a networked drive? either way i think that this is where its going wrong...

I have everything set up correctly and have done a number of successful DR jobs with other scenes subsequent to experiencing this issue. In response to Blago, when I have a chance I'll do some test renders of the problematic scene and look for error messages on the slave. I had the check for missing files option activated. Could it be a RAM issue? I have 128 Gb of Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 on the client and 64 Gb of the same memory on the slave. I set the memory limit to 50 Gb on the client so that I wouldn't max out the slave. It's a really heavy scene as I am not much of an optimizer at this point. Slightly embarrassed to say that I tend to throw hardware at my issues first ;( Despite this issue I'm hyped about the development happening to Vray.
