  • Occasional IPR crashes

Hey, I've experienced quite a few crashes when using the IPR (CPU) on a complex scene. It happens most often when tweaking parameters in large procedural objects, such as GrowFX and Itoo Forrest Pro, which need to recompute meshes with every adjustment. Seems the IPR often chokes on those changes and everything crashes, though I get to send a CER report.

Obviously, I'm not certain it's an IPR bug. It could be Max. But my limited experience of Max 2018 is that it's been rock solid. Very few crashes so far apart from those.

I'm running V-Ray 3.6 in Max 2018 on Windows 10 CE. Old HP Z820 workstation with twin Xeon and a GTX 1080ti.

Send us the crash dumps (in %temp%) after the crashes. It will be even better if you can provide a scene and reproduce steps.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Look in your Windows temp folder (type "%temp%" without the quotes in Windows explorer)

I was told that iToo is not updated yet for IPR in vray 3 versions. it happens when doing any tweak even with bacis FP or RC object in the scene. You can render when not touching the object, but any adjustment during IPR running will crash max.

Try the latest versions of both FP and RC (and latest V-Ray) and if there are still problems - send the scene(s) to chaos support.
