  • vray meshes not rendering on some frames with same render node.

We are currently working on a very large scene. A lot of the geometry in the scene has been converted to a vraymesh. Sometimes on the render machines it will include the geometry and then another frame it won't. Obviously all paths are network paths otherwise it wouldn't render at all.

Do you think it is to do with memory limitations of the machine (or reaching the limits of memory) or possibly something else ?

You could double check if all machines have access to the vrmesh files. Also is it possible to pinpoint which render nodes are not loading the vrmesh files and check their vraylog files for more information.

Could you try submiting a simpler test job with fewer vrmesh files and see if you could notice the same behaviour on these machines.

It's the machine that has a smaller amount of memory. It only has 16gb whereas the others have 24gb. I've got a large swap file on that machine so not sure why it would fail. I thought it would just take longer.

Generally V-Ray should not skip files if there is not enough memory. Could you try a local test render on the following machine and check the vraylog messages.
